The Banyan Tree Hotel – next to Lumpini Park in Bangkok (Sathorn)
By Jens Hoffmann
Arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, my favourite airport in the “City of Angels”, where I lived and worked from 2006 to 2009.
The name means Golden Land and I feel always great here.
I checked-in at the Banyan Tree Hotel. The hotel is located near our former apartment in Soi Sribumpen.
The hotel staff is “smooth as silk” and welcomes with smoothies, jasmine flowers and a warm thai welcome.
The Banyan Tree offers a mix of Thai and classic design.
The warm beige-brown tones harmonize with the Asian Buddhas and dark wood. On the table of our suite we will find all kind of exotic fruits and amazing mangos.
In the evening we had a dinner on the top floor. A thai soup with lemongrass, Thai basil, coriander and lots of chilli, the herbs enjoy all my senses.
Later on a night cap in the same location. Bangkok by night is a sea of lights with charming atmosphere
Enchanted by gin & tonic, we slept wonderfully.
The next day we were tourists, old temples, huge modern shopping malls, monks in robes crowd next to countless people in the streets.
Bangkok is a diverse, vibrant and exciting metropolis.
Simply the best….
