We took the nightrain from Bangkok to Laos and checked in “The 3 Nagas”.
Wow, wow, wow.
A charming boutique hotel in Luang Prabang, Laos.
It is so nice to be in Laos and in the region.
I used to live and work for three years in Bangkok and was several times in Luang Prabang.
At the arrival an old Citroen welcomed us in front of the hotel.
The hotel 3 Nagas is beautiful and you feel like in a bygone century.
The hotel comprises three meticulously restored UNESCO World Heritage Buildings, each more than a hundred years old.
So expect graceful lines and human-scale architecture on the outside and a fantastic garden.
We enjoyed everything, the contemporary design ideas and up-to-the-minute luxuries.
High ceilings above, and dark wooden floors beneath your feet.
A silent courtyard beside the gentle Nam Khan River.
Luxurious guest rooms with – typically – four poster beds and furnishings that include rich silk fabrics and traditional woven materials.
This Laos hotel blends seamlessly connecting the past and the present.
Embark on a timeless cultural journey of discovery amid the hotel’s warm and inviting ambience, in the luxury of its exclusive collection of spacious rooms and suites, and in its authentic Lao cuisine offering great and fine food fun in Luang Prabang.
Back to the hotel.
It is located in Luang Prabang’s Old Quarter, just a short walking distance from the major tourist attractions, on the path of the morning alms-giving procession.
A beautiful courtyard garden beside the Nam Khan River plus an acclaimed fine dining restaurant, serving exquisite Laotian food.
This all make the hotel a perfect place to relax and enjoy the serene Lao lifestyle.
It’s a truly magical and transporting place. So while Laos has kind of been left behind as a travel destination because it is landlocked and has no beaches, sites and projects like this really inspire me.
We’ve added a second property there, the brand-new Alila Luang Prabang, which blends a bit of that history and historic ambience with the latest amenities, and is an ideal environment for exploration and relaxation.
They’ve spent a lot of time refining the concept of the perfect retreat.
Give it a try. Its worth it.
Easy to go Bangkok, train or flight, several travel connections to Bangkok.
If you travel to Bangkok.
A resto tip in BKK, Thailand.
#1 The Tower Club at Lebua.
Spectacular views of the Chao Phraya River, Lebua sets the tone for a luxurious food & celebrations in Bangkok.
Dinners and events usually starts with a champagne reception, followed by a decadent tasting menu at one of lebua’s famed restaurants—Sirocco, Mezzaluna, Breeze or Distil— 60 stories above the Thai capital’s skyline.
At Sirocco, the world’s highest al fresco restaurant, the menu is always great or try the nine-course set menu at Mezzaluna, crafted by renowned twin chefs, Thomas and Mathias Sühring.
After your culinary experience tour at the restaurant, we finished with some cocktails at the Bangkok who’s-who hotspot, Skybar.
Just fantastic, a joyful experience.
#2 Restaurant tip in BKK – Le Beaulieu Restaurant
Le Beaulieu by Chef Herve Frerard is one of the top French restaurants in Bangkok, based on our frequent dining experiences there and elsewhere, although Herve claims the cuisine to be Mediterranean, with the exception of the odd pasta dish sprinkled here and there and a few recipes from Provence, it is basically French with a asian touch.
Turning to the cuisine, which is why you would be dining at Le Beaulieu in the first place, it is excellent; and following are just a few highlights:
Dinner starter: Lentil broth, garlic and fresh chervil; Snail Lasagna and Poultry Breast, Spinach shoots and green tomato syrup.
Dinner main course: Sea bass, braised Veal Cheek Cooked in Merlot Wine and Old Port, Celeriac purée, black olives and sun dried tomatoes.
Chefs Specialties: Roasted French Bresse Pigeon, Cépes mushrooms and braised endives, artichoke Soup & Half-Grilled Violet Artichoke, white truffle foam.
Yummy!
Herve learned from the legendary Paul Bocuse -RIP -.
You will enjoy it.
Good bye Bangkok.
