Brazil – Saint Andrews Gramado (Relais & Chateaux) / Brazil

Welcome to Brazil.

We are away from beach related turnovers and Ipanema.

Brazil 1
But the “Saint Andrews Gramado” is really unique in the world. But why do you go Granado?
Because you will get spectacular views of the Quilombo Valley. The Quilombo Valley can be seen at the Belvedere, on the road linking Gramado to Canela. For those who like relaxation, a nice excursion into the interior of Quilombo Valley is to see the Family Getaway. On a walk through its native forest, you see the beauty of five waterfalls, among unique wildlife and flora. Vale do Quilombo is not a park and there are no fees charged; you can be really by yourself. It is close to the Santa Claus Village, where we got a unique view over the Valley.
Gramado is in the southeast of Caxias do Sul, in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.The
town has a lot of German and Italian immigrants. Gramado is a must see.

A few kilometres through the magnificent landscape of the Serra Gaucha on your way to the hotel is enough to set the scene: this is a place of surprises.

The architecture of the building is impressive in itself. It draws its inspiration from the Scottish castle of Saint Andrews, and each elegantly furnished room bears the name of the semi-precious stone which prompted its décor.

First we went to the lovely pool.

In the evening we had a nice dinner by the light of Bohemian crystal chandeliers. The hotels restaurant is serving first class cuisine, quite sophisticated and international.

Enjoyment is clebrated with flair at this stylish castle.

We had a nice cocktail and later on great white wine from the well-stocked cellar.

The landscaped garden, home to migrating birds, is a haven of tranquillity where you can enjoy a balmy evening and the spectacular views of the Quilombo Valley…

If you are travelling in Brazil you will/must go to Rio.

Brazil, Ipanema, I love it.
