We had a nice stay in London we went to the Wired Conference and stayed at the My Fair. A glamorous heritage, bold design and distinctive style make the May Fair Hotel a true one off. Imbued with the energy of its central London location, in every sense it is the sum of its surroundings – a nucleus for new ideas, a hub for happenings of every kind. Lavish without being showy, dramatic without compromising on comfort and with service that’s attentive yet low-key, the…Continue Reading “May Fair Hotel / London / UK”
Contributed by T. Wellman I started my tour in Santiago de Chile Santiago, Chile’s sprawling capital, is the gateway to some of the world’s greatest natural wonders — Patagonia, the Atacama Desert, Easter Island. The city is alive with music, art and nightlife, against the arresting backdrop of the Andes. 50 years after General Augusto Pinochet’s USA backed coup d’état ushered in a 17-year dictatorship. Just a few years ago, Chile exploded into cathartic and, at times, violent unrest, as hundreds of thousands of Santiaguinos…Continue Reading “Cities we love – Santiago de Chile”
Destinatioreport New Zealand. Contributed by Marc Parker. Not a destination, an adventure. We had a fantastic time, we checked in at the Pohutukawa House Hotel. An oasis of recuperation. There is no mass to be found here, just selected fun. The hotels stlye is so beautiful of the highest standards. The pre-existing Pohutukawa trees posed a challenge but ended up becoming the inspiration for the design. Not wanting to clear the area or remove any trees, the architects chose to work around them. Their solution…Continue Reading “Great “Kiwi” experience – Pohutukawa House Auckland / New Zealand”

The Boscolo Venezia, Autograph Collection, housed in the old and prestigious Rizzo-Patarol noble palace, is an excellent location for completely immersing yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of Venice. The hotel’s XVII-century façade has a portal and loggia on overlapping levels and is hidden a secret garden, the only one to be found in a hotel in Venice, which is perfectly preserved and faces onto the lagoon. The Boscolo HoteVenezia, Autograph Collection combines contemporary comfort with the ‘period luxury’ of the precious marble, splendid frescoes and…Continue Reading “Hotel Boscolo / Venezia / Italy”
House & Hotel Magazine was in the beautiful city Tallinn. We checked in @ the Hotel Telegraaf and enjoyed this fantastic 5 Star hotel. The Revaler Handels Bank built this magnificent building in the old town of Tallinn at Vene Street 9 in 1878. It was designed by the architect Peter Schreiberg from St. Petersburg and was originally a four storey house, the two topmost floors added later. Later on when the Republik of Estonia was established in 1918, the building was used as the…Continue Reading “Hotel Telegraaf /Tallinn / Estonia”
wow, thats fun. The russian company Orbital has announced its plans to build a commercial space station which would also serve as a “space-hotel” for tourists. The hotel opening will be in 2016. Destination Canada. Canada and especially Toronto can be different. They are everywhere, the desire to live aloft is one shared by many, some of whom have gone so far as to make their dream a reality. As a result, there are some extremely altitudinous treehouses located around the world one of them in Toronto. Although it is only 100 square feet, The Roost’s undulating roof creates the feeling of more space, deluding the eye and circumventing building code. The roof is made of Northern white…Continue Reading “Cities we love – Toronto in Canada”
I love stylish “old school” hotels. I like the Hotel Sacher. It was 1876 established by Eduard Sacher, son of the creator of the Original Sacher-Torte, a unique chocolate cake with a thin layer of apricot jam. 6 years later, Eduard wife Anna Sacher took over the hotel and established its noble reputation. “I am the Master in the house,” the Grande Dame of the Sacher-dynasty is known to have said. She loved cigars and little dogs; some say she owned several hundreds of them!…Continue Reading “Hotels we love – Hotel Sacher in Vienna”
