The so called “Werfenwenger Weis”, a folk festival event that is known since 1989 is truly fun.

Since a few years there, the village in the Salzburger Land developed a convincing answer how climate friendly mobility can be implemented in practice. Folks arriving here without a car receive a SAMO tourist card, with which you can try all kinds of sustainable mobility for free.

It starts with the shuttle service from the station and reaches over e-bikes, e-cars, horse-drawn carriages to a series of electrically operated scooters, vespas eg. The electricity for these vehicles provides a solar charging station.

We checked in at the new Travel Charme Resort Hotel, the charming alpine domicile is decorated with exclusive interior of the designer Lorenzo Bellini.
It surprises with an elegant Alpine style an offers every prerequisite for perfect recuperation.

The Folk Culture Festival was held from 30/8 to 8/9 2013. Around 25 extraordinary events with hundreds of participants from Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Bavaria and Slovenia were at the festival, which celebrates the alpine traditions program, eg. the “Symphony of the Forest” an open-air concert of 300 alphorn players in Wengen valley, as well as concerts and international folklore evenings with music and local dancing tradition. Furthermore, the most beautiful costumes in the Alps presented at a fashion show and wooden instruments at an exhibition. Culinary highlights of the region, prepared according to the traditional recipes of the original family farmers from Werfenweng care of the culinary needs. Since 1989, the resort every three years for 10 days turned into a venue for musicians, folk dancers and singers from near and far. The goal of the event is to foster and promote the genuine folk music and traditions.
Many residents of Werfenweng volunteer to bring the festival alive.

Werfenweng and his visionary mayor have set a goal to try new routes and the demand is there.
The hotels and lodges in the Alps are home to many guests per night, added thousands of day-trippers. The valleys are loaded with pollutants such as industrial areas and the traffic is everywhere by far the biggest problem affecting the quality of life and leisure. Werfenweng wants to preserve its natural beauty and the SAMO concept therefore seems to be the right way.

We enjoyed the nature and clear mountain air, tried various fun mobile vehicles, tempts us to dialects and folk dances at the international “Alphorntreffen”.

The 4-star Superior Travel Charme Mountain Resort Werfenweng and the city of Werfenweng attracts vistors immediately with the nice SAMO (soft mobility) concept.
Werfenweng is well known for this concept and want to become car free soon. In the “Salzburgerburger Land” you can enjoy eletric cars, e-bikes, e-vespas, green fields, beautiful mountains, farming and delicous regional food.

The Travel Charme Werfenweng Mountain Resort offers plenty of rest and relaxation. The hotel has 90 double rooms, 30 suites and 46 apartments in three residences.

The heated outdoor pool and the lovely indoor pool are great.

We had sunny weather, so the perfect day to enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi, sunbathing in the garden and beauty treatments give the perfect relaxation alltogther with mountain views in all directions.

The resort knows what makes discerning guests happy, attentive hospitality and not to be forgotten, exquisite gastronomy.

The culinary high class restaurant Alpenzeit was closed but in the hotel restaurant “Feinspitz” we had great food (Schnitzel, local fish, great cheese and wine).

Next year we will try the resto “Alpenzeit”, Salzburg (the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) and its world famous Salzburger Nockerl.
