City of Angels
Chatuchakis the largest week end market in the world.
Based in Bangkok, frequently called JJ and contains upwards of 7,000 stalls. It is estimated that the market receives 200,000 visitors each day.[Most stalls only open on Saturdays and Sundays though Jatujak Plaza, the western section is open daily. In the north west corner is the J.J. Mall, with three floors of assorted oddments as well as eateries.The market offers a wide variety of products including household items, clothing, Thai handicrafts, religious artifacts, foods, and live animals.
Some people live on the market.
We love ecoluxury locations, but this place is so different and friendly to the planet as it is to its guests.
BKK is everywhere chaos, dust… Sanuk.
Nice experience in the Shangri La, Bangkok:
The Chinese calligraphy “Living in the Lost Horizon” by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously adorns the wall of Shang Palace’s main entrance.
Nice bar in Bangkok: Lebua

Over the top, Sirocco is the world’s largest all open-air restaurant and “Sky Bar” it is located on the 64th floor of the State Tower in Bangkok.
The restaurant serves nice, a bit overpriced food and its main feature is a spectacular panorama view of the Chao Phraya river and Bangkok city. We had at Sirocco, a yummy five course menu.
Resto tip #2 my favourite one: Herve’s top french restaurant “Le Beaulieu”.
Le Beaulieu by Chef Herve Frerard is for me the top French restaurant in Bangkok, based on my frequent dining experiences there and elsewhere.
Herve is a fantastic character, although he claims the cuisine to be Mediterranean, it is basically French.
It has a seating capacity of 45, including the small private room on the mezzanine up the stairway, a perfect size to produce the excellent cuisine that comes out of the small but well designed kitchen.
Turning to the cuisine, it is excellent!
Just a few highlights:
Dinner starter: Lentil broth, garlic and fresh chervil; Snail Lasagna and Poultry Breast, Spinach shoots and green tomato syrup;
Dinner main course: Braised Veal Cheek Cooked in Merlot Wine and Old Port, Celeriac purée, black olives and sun dried tomatoes; Chefs Specialties: Roasted French Bresse Pigeon, Cépes mushrooms and braised endives, orange bitter condiment 2000;
Soup: Artichoke Soup & Half-Grilled Violet Artichoke, white truffle foam. The seabass is always great.
Yummy! There are always cooking events like a happening together with one-Michelin-star Chef Nicolas Isnard. Isnard is a highly respected French chef and has been awarded 4 toques by the Gault et Millau guide as well as the honored title of ‘Maitre Cuisinier de France’ in 2012. You will get no less than 4-course lunches, 5-course dinners and an amazing 8-course Sturia caviar dinner, one of the world’s finest caviar.
Fantastic place and Herve learned from the legendary Paul Bocuse in Lyon, you will enjoy it.

You should go the islands, here is one of my favourites: Koh Phiphi:
The movie was filmed on this great location in Thailand.
Roger Moore was the MI6 agent James Bond, the film has sent him after the Solex Agitator, a device which can harness the power of the sun, while facing Scaramanga, the “Man with the Golden Gun”. The action culminates in a duel between them that settles the fate of the Solex.
The film was being shot in Thailand, Hong Kong and Macao.
Sanuk.
We will come back.
