House & Hotel Magazine features permanently great places. Today we are on a stunning location in the “middle of nowhere”.

We are in New Zealand, the fantastic lodge called “Te Paruparu”. It was built with local timber, located on top of a hill and offers a panoramic view over the bays of the Marlborough Sounds and one of the perfect New Zealand walks.
The stylish lodge has three bedrooms – each with a modern suite and comfortably accommodates a couple of nice guests.
So lets rent an entire private island for your holiday. Forsyth Island is one of the largest entirely privately-owned islands in the South Pacific. It is situated in the Marlborough Sounds, a helicopter ride from New Zealand’s capital, Wellington. One of the highest-elevated privately owned islands with great peaks. Forsyth Island offers breathtaking views of the Marlborough Sounds, the outskirts of Wellington and of numerous other islands. This wonderful area has one of the best records for sunshine in New Zealand and the water is clear. Forsyth Island has 20 miles of ocean frontage and 30 miles of walking and hiking trails. It has two telephone lines, electricity lines, a major wharf, a farmhouse and sheep shearing quarters. You will be captivated by the magnificence and remarkable beauty of this unique private island!
The fully equipped kitchen, the dining area and the generous, light-flooded living room, designed in a gallery concept, form the centre of the lodge.
The exclusive lodge is rounded off by a roofed veranda surrounding the house and a Jacuzzi with a view of the Sea.
Enchanted fern forests and fragrant Manuka tree avenues, impressive cliffs and lonely beaches add to the special charm of Forsyth Island. This island of 700 hectares is a valuable natural monument, even within New Zealand and boasts a lush vegetation. The national bird, kiwi, can be found here and Forsyth is the last place to host a few of the endemic Milkwood trees. After farmers cultivated the fertile ground for sheep farming in the last century, nature has now been allowed to reconquer the island for the last two decades – the government of New Zealand is extremely pleased about this.
Neither mosquitoes, no dangerous animals guests will just be amazed by the lush flora.

Take the boat out for fishing or watch the seals and dolphins and be sure to take your time!

The lodge’s own fresh island well guarantees water supplies all year round. Sustainable, cool and pure ecoluxury.
