The Regent Berlin – Location, location, location

Contributed by Jens Hoffmann.

It is one of the most storied of Berlin hotels, an estate whose evolution defines that of Berlin Mitte (“Gendarmenmarkt”).

The Regent is an interesting mix; from the outside it is a completely modern building.
Inside it is a old world luxury hotel with chandeliers, marble and antiques. In the heart of the historic district next to Gendarmenmarkt and a short walk from Checkpoint Charlie. An excellent location for those wishing to take in Berlin’s history.

The check-in was smooth and nice and we checked in at the suite number 225.

The Regent is an eight-storey building and situated on one of Berlin’s best locations Gendarmenmarkt could easily come up to it. However the bathroom was super spacious and looked truly royal, being completely out of marble. A bath tub, seperated toilet and shower as well as a big vanity were accompanied by L’Occitaine toiletries.

The breakfast is served in the 2-michelin-starred Fischers Fritz restaurant.

Parts of the breakfast were served and some parts can be found on the buffet, which consists of muesli, croissants, fruits, yoghurts and pastries. Butter, bread, egg disehs, jams, cheese and ham are served. There was also nobody asking us about the preferences nor if we like it. Orange juice is served as well as coffee. That’s it! Hmm. The best remains the Lobby and the design of the public spaces as well as the elevators.

This is a royal-looking property and I can recommend this place to everyone.

Especially for Berlin tourist, business people, families (looking for a alternative to the “Das Stue”, Hotel de Rome or Adlon.
Perfect for (luxury) shopping fans. The “Friedrichstrasse” and “Quartier 206” is nearby, here the shopping fans will find all the upscale brands.

We had dinner at Fischer’s Fritz.

Fischers Fritz

This is truly a highlight, it was the first of Berlin’s restaurants to acquire two Michelin Stars, so it’s perfect for gourmet travellers.

It is fun to talk to Mr Lohse or his associate chef de cuisine Norbert, the chefs work perfectly and they clearly are able to answer all food related questions, especially about their own cuisine and the dishes they serve.

The wine list is awsome, it has uncoutable labels, with coverage of Germany and France but also further afield. For example, 2014 Gelber Muskateller Weingut Wohlmuth, Austria, 2015 Scheurebe Auslese Saulheimer Schlossberg, Weingut Thörle or 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Marama, New Zealand.

Beautiful.
