Barefoot luxury meets unpretentious style at the Conrad Maldives on Rangali island.
My perfect “Robinson Crusoe” escape is this hideaway in the southern Ari Atoll is created for extraordinary moments.
If you really want to get away from the whole world, do so in ultimate luxury, look no further than the Conrad Maldives Hotel on Rangali Island. This tiny, tropical archipelago is home to a warm, vibrant culture that spans hundreds of islands and a common thread of infinite beauty.
How to get there: Just a 35-minute seaplane flight from the capital, Male. The idyllic tropical paradise lies in South Ari Atoll, three degrees north of the equator. The Republic of the Maldives is an island nation in the Indian Ocean consisting of a double chain of twenty-six atolls. The islands gained independence from the British Empire in 1965 and became a republic in 1968. A stay on Rangali island is the perfect place to detox and just enjoy the elegant Conrad location.
For me it was like barefoot luxury meets unpretentious style. Home to whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins, turtles and an extensive coral reef, its been awarded “The Best Water Villas in the World”, “The Best Suites in the World” and “Best Spa Resort in the Maldives” among other accolades.
The resort offers three different resort experiences on two islands, the typical get-away-from-it-all Maldivian hideaway on tiny Rangali Island while also having access to the facilities of the larger main island which is linked to it by a 500m bridge. The third resort experience is at the Spa Retreat, an over-water destination spa that operates as a resort-within-a-resort set 100m off the tip of the main island. The Accommodation varies from 50 romantic water villas on Rangali Island and 79 contemporary beach villas tucked away amongst tropical greenery on the main island to 21 stunning over-water villas at the Spa Retreat. We enjoyed a bit of everything. That means we tried 4 of the 11 restaurants, enjoyed the spas, two pools and got the unique experiences such as dolphin watching snorkeling with whale sharks, hundreds of coloured fishes and even sharks.
The resort is a gourmet’s dream, home to world-class dining such as Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, the only all-glass undersea restaurant in the world. Perfect for malosoll imperial caviar, Maldivian lobster, yellow tail king fish, reef fish tartare. I enjoyed very much the Japanese inpired dishes @ Koko Grill 101 and it was great to try a wine and cheese lesson at the Cheese Bar. The perfect place for degustation is the wine cellar, wine dinners hosted by the chef and sommelier are always possible, over 20,000 bottles of fine wines, from rare vintages to new discoveries, like Petrus and fantastic Chianti ensures that every meal becomes a feast for the senses.
Easy to relax in the two spas or to enjoy the resorts vibrant coral reef is just steps from the beach. The art of doing nothing and detox is possible in a million different ways on the world‟s most perfect beaches.
We had fantastic snorkeling experiences.
Enjoyed the beach and decided to get pampered, relax and took the luxury for body and soul. The staff was fantastic and transmit the redefined luxury leger idea.
The Conrad has 28 newly designed Water villas and 2 great water villas. Our editors checked in @the so called Deluxe Beach Villa. The Cloud 7 model was just amazing and great. The delights of doing nothing or watching dolphins, you’ve got lot of options.
Our room tip: Choose the water villa if you like peace and quietness, especially during peak season.
Snacks can be taken everywhere, grilled seafood are amazing probably in every of the 11 restos, which offers the widest range of culinary treats in the Maledives. The Koko Grill serves great Japanese influenced degustation.
Finally you must try the “Ithaa Undersea Restaurant”. They serve up delicious offerings and to enjoy you meal food and dine 16 feet below sea level is a fantastic experience.
The “Ithaa” is the world’s first all-glass, undersea restaurant.
I discovered the world of barefoot luxury at the resort.
Amazing ocean view baths, Philippe Starck fittings, private sun decks, espresso machines and Bulgari bathroom goodies, it is almost impossible to imagine anything more beautiful. Guests staying in the Maldives hotel’s Superior and Deluxe Water Villas will love the Jacuzzi pool on the sun deck, while Premier Water Villas have an additional jacuzzi in the bathroom with in-built satellite TV. Two Sunset Water Villas, meanwhile, stand in a secluded part of the lagoon with private butler, glass-floored living room, rotating bed, pool in the ocean and personal jet boat.
In short, if you need to really get away and travel to ultimate paradise, the Maldives is your destination. The Conrad Maldives Hotel is an easy choice, easy to forget the hazzle, the monotony, the tribulation of modernized life when you are faced with such inescapable beauty.
The big “Wow”, I enjoyed it.
We will come back.
