Today we feature another beautiful boutique hotel in Saloniki/ Greece
The Hotel Excelsior (5*) is located in Thessaloniki center, not far away from Aristotelous square, right in the heart of this vibrant town. So just in the historical building of the classic and glorious Excelsior Hotel, dating back to 1924, the new Excelsior cherishes its past and at the same time gazes into the future, as one of the most prominent small luxury hotels in Europe.
A vision come true for a family of hoteliers with a longstanding reputation for their commitment to excellence. The Tornivoukas family of Macedonian Hotels – known also for the Eagles Palace Hotel & Spa in Ouranoupolis, Halkidiki and the City Hotel in Thessaloniki – owned the renowned Meditéranée Palace Hotel of Thessaloniki being one of the first true luxury hotels in Northern Greece.
Besides this there’s a lot of citizen activism in Thessaloniki; people using their imaginations to brighten lives in ways the ailing Greek state can’t.
Otherwise’s major events like an “urban experiment and celebration of public spaces”, drew lots of people.
Furthermore there were 25,000 at a “No Car Day” event, and more at nights in the Museums.
It has invited urban planning experts to talk about what makes a great city, organised book fairs, taken over disused buildings in Thessaloniki’s under-exploited port, and is planning a few more major events
So everything is about showing everyone – citizens, local authorities and national government – that the faith in a city can change.
Besides this you get little fishing villages, houses that line its waterfront are painted in sugary shades with contrasting doors and windows – blue, white blush-rose and green, lilac and pink, orange and red – all lit up like a twinkling rainbow at night. Lovely, easy holiday destination.
