We landed at the Airport Basel / Mulhouse.
The “Euro-Airport” is an international airport near Basel, located in France just an hour drive away from Hinterzarten.
Treasures await you here in the beautiful 5-star Parkhotel Adler in Hinterzarten.
The family owned 5-star luxury hotel is located in the southern part of the Black Forest, is rich in tradition and suitable for guests seeking relaxation or an action-packed break.
We had been before to this lovely hotel and had a again a fantastic time.
Whenever I stay at places in the world I am in love with, I take a walk around the neighborhood. It gives you a wonderful opportunity to see the place in an intimate, personal way that’s likely to stick with you long after you arrived home.
My early walk brought me to the parkhotels parc. It is so unbelievable beautiful to stroll in the parc, no words can decribe it. Not only kids loves it to feed the deers.
This time we slept in the “Sven Hannawald” (famous german ski jumper) suite, last time it was the “Deep Purple” suite. A couple of years ago the ski jumper and also the great music band stayed in this suites.
I love that historic points. The hotel is just beside the famous Baroque church, located at the foot of the world-famous Adlerschanze ski jump in Hinterzarten.
Hinterzarten which is the hometown of the world famous ski jumper Georg Thoma, is also perfect for nordic walking and mountain biking.
The city is a small town with around 3000 inhabitants, a few boutiques and a train link to Freiburg that takes around 30 mins.
The hotel provides a so called “Hoch-Schwarzwald-Pass” to guests who spend two or more nights.
The hotel is lovely and the staff are terrific, we got a hotel pick-up, just in case the Parkhotel has its own helicopter landing pad.
Besides the ski jump the Parkhotel is famous for its lovely food.
So we had a couple of really nice dinners in the amazing fine dining restaurant “Marie Antoinette”.
together with great wines from the region.
If you like you will also get some more upscale wines from Chateau Lafite and Mouton Rothschild.
Another great opportunity is to enjoy lunch and/or dinner at the “Wirtshaus” which serves regional, local dishes.
The “Schwarzwaldhaus”(Black Forest House) includes a breakfast pavilion with panoramic views. Traditionally furnished with wooden interiors and a tiled stove.
Our tip for the “Wirtshaus”: Try the Wiener Schnitzel, it is fantastic.
In the Parkhotel they serve a perfect breakfast, lots of choice at the buffet and a menu to order from as well. Parkhotel Adler is a bit like an historical museum, The historc style is different and make your stay wonderful.
We enjoyed the fantastic 1,200 m² spa with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym and sauna. Furthermore we had a fantastic massage, which was really lovely.
Take a look, I like that pool.
Celebrities like Jackie Onassis, Alain Delon, Deep Purple, Fred Perry, Nigel Kennedy, Tina Turner, Phil Collins, Tokio Hotel, Gustl Bayrhammer, Arjen Robben, Prinz Karim Aga Khan and Supertramp were here and enjoyed the silent place.
The Parkhotel Adler is one of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”.
