Contributed by feature reporter and influencer Jens Hoffmann

Santo Domingo was 1498 founded by Bartholome Columbus, the brother of Christoph Columbus, it was the first seat of the Spanish colonial rule in the New World.

Its the capital and largest city in the Dominican Republic.

The 5-star InterContinental Real in Santo Domingo, was my hideaway on time.

Location, Location, Location. Placed in the business area, not far away from the old town.

Even the president of the Dominican Republic attended the opening-party of the hotel which is more than an evidence of the hotel’s importance to the tourism scene.

The lobby is expansive and elegant. The hotel offers subdued style and an attentive staff.

The floor-to-ceiling windows let in an abundance of natural light bring some luxury and style to the city.

The hotel offers 227 rooms, two bars and three unique concept restaurants, the hotel caters to travelers in town for business as well as those looking for a weekend getaway where they can explore a city rich in history and architecture.

A bit of the glamour in Santo Domingo. The hotel showcases a contemporary design and style across guest rooms and public spaces, allowing folks to immerse themselves in luxury.
Perfect relaxation is on hand at the two spa’s of the resort with a wide range of massages and classic. treatments. The center is open 24 hours and has state-of-the-art equipment with WiFi enabled features.

Two saunas, two steam baths and an amazing infinity pool overlooking the city makes the stay truly fun.

With three restaurants and two bars, the hotel offers a wide variety of dining options.

Guests and locals alike enjoy the food at “The Market”, the restaurant where the breakfast buffet offers a range of international & caribbean cuisine. and The “Nau” is a upscale asian experience, the “Factory Steak and Lobster” restaurant is the fining dining in-house place.

“The Market” is the hotel’s casual eatery, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with an extensive menu that ranges from pasta, carpaccio and ceviche. The “Nau Lounge” provides a hip ambiance for contemporary Asian cuisine and cocktails. The fine dining experience is the “Factory Steak and Lobster”, specialized in “turf and surf” steak and lobster, prepared in an open kitchen.

You will also find a variety of dining options within a few minutes of the hotel by foot or taxi.

But with so much happening on-site, you may not want to leave.

Additionally, the hotel offers nearly 9,000 square feet of meeting space spread with a maximum capacity of 750 guests. It is able to coordinate a wide range of events including business, social gatherings and weddings.

The hotel, located at Avenida Winston Churchill is relaxing fun. You must find out the rest for yourself. Everyday could end in relaxing caribbean style in the outdoor hotel bar next to the pool.

Later on I travelled to Punta Cana, a more touristic hub.
