House & Hotel Magazine features Switzerland.

Switzerland
We went to Le Crans-Montana in the Plans Mayens area.

First a little note about the destination: Crans Montana is one of the most famous ski resorts in the Swiss Alps, a sort of european Aspen, packed with celebrities e.g. Gunter Sachs, 007- Roger Moore lived there, golfing, famous ski trophy spot, teh city hosted some World Cups and a couple of luxury hotels.
Plans Mayens was formerly the Mont-Blanc Hotel site, a small family pension, well-known in the Valais region. The original building has been completely rebuilt without losing the spirit of the place and is now LeCrans HOTEL & SPA. A haven of peace, with the accent on luxury and exclusivity.

Crans Montana

Le Crans Hotel & Spa has 15 rooms/suites. We checked in @ the superior room Chamois for the week-end, at the reception everyone will get a glass of champagne.
Later on they showed the room. We loved it to be here and enjoyed the hotel, the restaurant was amazing and we had a very pleasant stay.

I loved the view from the hotel restaurant which was just incredible and the fantastic spa.

Our room had a cosy firplace, there were fruits, a Nespresso machine and a welcome card, alcoholic beverages in the minibar are complimentary.
The hotel has a nice style and looks like a luxury chalet, with modern alpine decor, couches and fireplaces everywhere. Each room is individually decorated with high quality materials.

A drawback of the hotel is its location, far from the action, there is a fleet of cars ready to bring you efficiently around for free.
The bed was very nice and you feel like @ home with the georgeous fireplace
The bathroom hd a japanese toilet, separate shower, and jacuzzi bath.

The hotel offers excellent service. For some reason in Europe, good service always comes with a certain aristocratic stiffness, but it’s excellent and attentive nevertheless. The place was spotless.
The restaurant is just fantastic. The food is fresh and excellent. The restaurant has many more tables than it accommodates hotel guests and no surprises, it was packed (with outside visitors) on Saturday night. They can accompany the meal with excellent local (or international) wines.

We visited the facilities on arrival but had no time to experience anything. It’s a pity because the indoor pool really looked nice. There is an outdoor one at 30+ degrees if you want.
The hotel advertises itself as ski-in-out. It is possible: one has to walk 100+ meters and you are there.

So there: it’s very nice, service and food are excellent and Crans is (one of) the places to be in the Swiss Alps. For skiers however, in this price class we think there are more convenient choices.

Anyway, we enjoyed our stay. On Monday we travelled using the train from Montana Gare to Geneva. The traffic from/to Geneva and ski resorts on week-ends is a nightmare.
