Paradise has a name – Six Senses Douro Valley.

Contributed by Francois Jobard.

Last time we enjoyed the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam, it was a completely different world.
This time the Six Senses Douro Valley offered a special style.

Aquapra

We landed at Porto International Airport enjoyed the city and took the train following the River Douro, with its steep vineyard-terraced river banks and sleepy rural hamlets.

Picture book panorama; the Six Senses in the Douro Valley is a superbly renovated 19th-century manor house set high on a hill overlooking the vine covered rolling hills of the Douro Valley and the river below.
ZIMMER

The first impression pure elegance and a brilliant idea to transform a family villa into a stylish contemporary hotel. Elegant and stylish, 41 rooms, 9 suites, 7 villas (with own pools).

REFLEKTION
We enjoyed it.

We visited the former “Aquapura” Douro Valley hotel before and nowadays it is even more elegant without compromising on style.
When we sat on our terrace we felt like in heaven.
TERRASSE

This 5-star Six Senses is situated within the walls of an old farm inspired by the surrounding landscape.

A spa, a selection of rooms, suites and villas, restaurants, wine library, swimming pools and organic garden are but a few of the many features offered.
TOPINAMBUR

Just amazing, an ideal option for a food trip, spa and wine-focused stay away from the hazzle of city life. It is an ideal starting point for discovering the secrets of this UNESCO world heritage region.

KÄSE
A perfect luxury and peaceful escape with a brillant spa. I love it we enjoyed the spa.

It is located at the heart of the hotel. It is a place full of magic and romance. The Six Senses Spa’s emphasis is on wellness integrated throughout the hotel, from the carefully chosen Organic Pharmacy toiletries in the hotel bedrooms to the minibar and healthy, local cuisine.

Satisfying the highest demands of service and culinary excellence. There’s a feeling of balance, amazing wine list, plenty of gourmet options on the menu.

We had a stylish terrace, poured concrete and historic charm.

The setting is so lovely nestling within the UNESCO protected Douro Valley, overlooking the winding river. Take the time for a tour to Lamego.

LAMEGO

The extensive Six Senses spa menu is impressive, lovely to relax in cocooning relaxation chairs, enjoying ginger tea afterwards the massage. I love the fact that when developing the hotel, the management removed an old tennis court – which was very nice – and replaced it with an more easy to play paddles course (so more people can play it).

Furthemore you will get a lovely breakfast with organic foods, sitting outside and enjoying the gardeners pottering there. Never felt so good and far away from everything.

One more time sauna and relaxation and We slept so well – untill we arrived in seventh heaven.

Living in style.
