Categories Destinations, Hotels, Houses, Stories10 Comments

Today we feature the lovely Borgo Egnazia Resort. It became famous when Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake were married in Italy and probably had a great time in the hotel. The resort has 63 rooms and suites in the central building. The borgo, set up as a small village with charming lanes, pink and purple bougainvillea and characteristic Puglian white and cream walls, ranging from 400 qm2 rooms to townhouses with kitchen, bathrooms and large sitting areas.

There are 28 three-bedroom villas of almost 2700 square feet. These luxury villas have fireplaces, full kitchens including dishwashers, dining rooms and pools.
Puglia, is bordered by both the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, giving it one of the longest coastlines of any region in Italy.
Most of Puglia is agricultural, there is growing grapes & fruit, almond trees and olives.

The San Domenico Hotels created the property from the ground up in the town of Savelletri di Fasano, about 45 minutes from Bari.
It became a bit of a celebrity place, maybe Justin knows why.
Golfers will like it, great views, fantastic landscapes, the golf course separates the Borgo from the Adriatic Sea.
Every room is stylish and warm. The elements of nature, reflects the connection to the country site, cotton window treatments, and ample displays of dried wood.
But the rooms have all the modern conveniences, nice mirrors and excellent toiletries in the bathroom.
We played the 18-hole golf course, fantastic views and putts along the Adria.
Later on we had lovely Italian wine and relaxed at the outdoor pool.

For rainy weather you will find a nice indoor pool, better a 20,000 square foot spa center.
The variety of treatments here range from natural facial treatments to flotation sessions to the use of the tepidarium, salt sauna, whirlpool, cleansing and purification rituals. The resort is kids friendly, the kids can participate in water sports such as sailing and wind surfing.
The Trullalleri Kids Club handles children from ages eight to thirteen and the Fichi d’India Teen Club provides all kinds of activities for the older set, including golf and tennis clinics and a multimedia area.
Wow, next time we will bring the kids.
We enjoyed the vineyards of Locorotondo which is easy to reach. Besides this it is always great to be in Italia.

Resto tip in the region: Alle due Corti, Corte dei Guigni 1, Lecce, 73100, Italy
Fantastic, typical italian restaurant.

We started with salade, the tomatoes were so sweet and were only garnished with some onion, garlic and of course olive oil.
Similarly, some yellow peppers that seemed to have been marinated in wine vinegar were brilliantly tangy.
One of the many things that surprised me about this place in Puglia was that the food is not particularly light, in fact a lot of it is downright stodgy our primi piatti being a scattariciati, a local cheese, not dissimilar to mozzarella. Fave is a local speciality and it was served with what they described as chicory, but looked to me more like spinach. The olive oil was in the reston and everywhere in the region just delicious. The chicory & spinach added a lightness to it, the olive oil thinned it out. The pasta was delicious, it was basically thick sheets of pasta with a sauce of tomato and liberally sprinkled with scattarciati. To be able to achieve such taste with so few ingredients is testament to their quality. Later on Tirami Su, Grappa and Espresso.
Alle due Corti was the meal I’d been looking for all holiday. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and the surroundings peaceful.
If you’re in Italy, go there.

Bella Italia.

Living in style.
