Stylish, charming, and elegant—the perfect blend to meet discerning tastes.
Wroclaw is well-designed for travel, hospitality and style.
The citys nickname is “The city of bridges”.
That’s a quite good description as there are 117 bridges.
It is hard to sightsee them all but we explored several ones with the DoubleTree hotel bikes.
Exploring the city by bike was great fun.
The city has many charms, it is a cocktail of history, lifestyle, museums, and a picturesque Old Town.
In short: one of Poland’s most beautiful cities—thanks in no small part to its Bauhaus art, design, and cultural scene.

The Old Town was totally rebuilt.
Today, it shines with stately historic buildings.
Everywhere you turn, there are snacks to enjoy and history and traditions to experience.
If you are interested in architecture and food, a visit to the “Hala Targowa” market hall is worth it.
The building itself, with its red brick façade and clock tower, is impressive.
Equally fascinating is Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia), a UNESCO-listed structure.
It hosts sporting events and concerts, and a museum of contemporary art is located right next door.
A quick tip: while strolling through Wrocław, take your eyes off your iPhone every now and then and simply look down.
If you have children with you, you’ll likely be doing that anyway.
It pays to look, because that’s where you’ll find the city’s “army of dwarves.”
These little dwarves—known as *Krasnale* in Polish—have become an integral part of Wrocław. They shape the cityscape; hundreds of dwarfs are a permanent fixture in the city.
According to legend, the dwarfs helped found the city and took part in protests against an unpopular government.
In gratitude, they were granted the right to stay forever.
Wonderful.
Getting there: We live sustainably, so we traveled from Berlin by train.
The city offers its first highlight the moment you pull into the main station, Wrocław Główny.
With its turrets and battlements, the station building looks like a small castle.
Wow.
The obscure object of our desire—our home away from home—awaits.
The DoubleTree by Hilton looks like the cruise ship *Queen Mary 2* setting sail.
It blends a modern exterior with a refined interior concept. The elegantly rounded building immediately captivated us.
The DoubleTree by Hilton features 189 rooms and suites.
They are furnished in a modern, functional, and stylish way.
Here, design isn’t an end in itself; it serves the guest and aims to delight them.
The DoubleTree by Hilton’s inner courtyard is the perfect proof of this.
We stayed in Suite 295 and had access to the Executive Lounge—including happy hour and a light dinner.
Bicycles were waiting downstairs.
Off we went through Słowacki Park and into the city.
With its OVO Bar and Restaurant, the hotel offers excellent culinary options.
The breakfast buffet impressed us, too.
An imaginative international breakfast with Polish influences—featuring fish, kimchi, and smoothies.
I love local cuisine sourced from producers in the surrounding area.
Everything tasted perfect and was prepared using the highest-quality ingredients.
Anyone staying at the hotel for dinner is in for a treat. Restaurant OVO serves up pirogi in all their variations, along with soups, salads, and meat dishes.
The OVO kitchen offers a small but exquisite selection of dishes.
Michelin-starred fine dining is available elsewhere in the courtyard.
We’ll try that next time.
For those focused on wellness, the hotel offers a swimming pool, sauna, and spa with holistic treatments.
A perfect place to relax.
Wonderful.
The next day, we’re back on our bikes;
Sights, monuments, bridges, and churches fly past us.
International visitors call the city “Wroclove”—and it fits; we’ve fallen in love with Wrocław, too.

Visiting Wroclaw is something to look forward to.
Staying at a hotel in the city can be expensive and leave a significant dent in your budget.
