Can there be any Kempinski world-wide whose history compares to the historic San Clemente Palace Hotel?
I would say no, every stone recalls a fascinating history.
The hotel is set on the private island of San Clemente within the Venetian lagoon. It is surround with lush gardens, stylish antique courtyards and a beautiful 12th century church.
We arrived on a hot July morning on San Clemente. Easy to get there, just ten minutes by a complimentary boat from Piazza San Marco.
On the island you are away from all the tourists and hazzle, a kind of glamorous arrival. A warm welcome. Every stone recalls a fascinating history. The luxury Kempinski hotel is a true gem and has enchanting guests since 1522. It offers elegant rooms and suites, including connecting rooms for family use. For us it was a lovely suite. The suite #303 offered our family fantastic days, everyone is happy with Aqua Parma amenities in the marble bathroom.
The suites also include butler service and a bit of wind down.
The heritage listed location is tucked away amidst gardens. Everywhere you cal overlooking the lagoon, all with rug-covered terrazzo floors. The bright lobby is the soul of the place it gave us a warm welcome.
In the hotel you will find Murano glass light fittings and intricate Italian brocades.
Fine dining is easy in the lovely hotel restaurants. The Executive Chef overseeing three restaurants including a poolside grill and the “Acquerello” for modern Adriatic fare and discerning palates.
The heated outdoor swimming pool poffers vistas of Venice; further recreation you will get at the hotels tennis court. We enjoyed very much to play golf on Sana Clemente (3 hole pitch and putt) golf.
Lovely. After an amazing breakfast we left San Clemente.
For me on the top of the dozen international luxury hotels and a journey back in time of glorious past.
