Bucharest, Romania’s largest city and capital, always had a reputation for the high life and even earned the nickname “Paris of the East”.

It’s a bustling metropolis known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards and beautiful Belle Époque buildings.

For me it is truly a special destination.

It’s not one of the most popular destinations in the world, but it attracs with culture, warm hospitality and nice food.

We landed at Bucharest’s Henri Coandă International Airport and checked in at the Angelo Airporthotel.

Our hotel is located close to the growing business parks north of the Romanian capital, just 500 meters away from the airport.

We saw the world’s largest parliamentary building. The building is nick-named as “Nicolae Ceaușescu palace”, testament of a dictator or a display of Romanian engineering skill. The Romanians don’t like it, I did.

It’s a must-visit. There are 1100 rooms and focus on the tons of marble, hardwood, and gold used in the building’s construction in the 1980s, a time when Romania was straining to feed its own people. Ceaușescu and his wife, Elena, both played a direct role in the construction. It was originally intended to house the presidential offices and the Central Committee of the Romanian Communist Party but was never finished.

I enjoyed my stay with all this different ways of life, architecture of Eastern-Bloc buildings next to beautiful Belle Époque houses.

The Romanian people feel like Italians have Dracule and great food.
